Sometimes there’s nothing sexier than a big bowl of ice cream, but did you know that certain foods can actually trigger responses in the human body? They’re called aphrodisiacs, named after the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite.


There’s no proof that these foods instantly create sexual desire, but it’s thought the foods encourage it by doing such things as increased body temperature and heart rate.


With the cold weather coming to most of the Western world right now, here are a list of foods that you can use to warm yourself up (in more ways than one)!


Chocolate

There’s no proof that chocolate is an aphrodisiac from the ingredients, but the feeling it gives you can certainly work. The richness of the food can stimulate the libido and the chemical phenylethylamine can create excitement and general well-being, which can help turn you on.


So don’t feel guilty about eating that leftover Halloween chocolate! It’s an important part of your sexual health!


Figs

Figs have been considered an aphrodisiac for centuries. Scientists believe it’s because they have a high concentration of antioxidants, flavonoids, and polyphenols. These chemicals increase relaxation and well-being, which are two things you need to feel in order to get in the mood.


Instead of chips for your next romantic movie night, bring some figs instead! The odd look will be worth it!


Oysters

The legendary lover, Casanova, would eat raw oysters every morning to maintain his stamina. He likely didn’t know that Oysters have a lot of zinc, which helps produce testosterone, sperm production, and immune function.
